New feature integration to increase user retention & engagement
Shazam, a mobile app renowned for real-time song identification, has steadily grown since its launch and is now integrated with Apple's Siri. While it remains focused on helping users identify music, Shazam aims to boost retention and engagement by exploring social features to enhance music discovery.

Sharing music fosters deeper connections by allowing people to express themselves and bond over shared tastes. Creating a space for this exchange enhances a music discovery platform, making it not just a tool for finding new tunes, but a community hub where users can grow together through their musical journeys.
Through user interviews, I gained valuable insights that led to the development of new features aligned with the app’s current UX and core goal of helping users discover new music. Users expressed a desire to access other users' Shazam history and connect with those who share similar musical interests.
In response, we introduced several new features: public profiles showcasing Shazam history and likes, a display of the number of likes on each song card, the option to follow users with similar tastes, and a new tab featuring a feed of recent Shazams from people you follow. These updates enhance the platform’s ability to foster connections and enrich the music discovery experience.
